Kwon Pan. Every time I try to print a document to pdf Word stops responding. I have tried reinstalling Office and Adobe Acrobat and it did not revolve the problem. Thanks for your feedback. How satisfied are you with this reply? Thanks for your feedback, it helps us improve the site. I do not get error messages when word stops responding, I only get as far as the Save As Word and the rest of office works flawlessly on everything else.
In reply to Kwon Pan's post on March 27, To start in Safe Mode, hold down the Ctrl key while starting Word. I'll add to the list the deskpdf add-on, which I will have to try to reinstall or disable, but for now Word freezes when trying to print to the deskpdf virtual printer, at least on my computer.
In reply to cheech's post on April 27, I, too, have exactly this problem. I installed Office on two different Windows 8 machines, each with latest updated Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro. This occurs in both Word and Excel - I haven't tried other programs in the Office Suite.
Since this occurs on separate machines and installations I think it is an Office issue. Problem does not occur in any other program or Office Suite. In reply to jfreeman3's post on May 21, Does the issue occur with other Office applications like Excel or PowerPoint? You may launch Word in its application safe following the steps below and check if the issue occurs. If the application works fine in application safe mode, try disabling the add ins for the application and check the result.

Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. The problem applies to all word documents. It seems only to affect word, as powerpoint and excel are both running well.
In my case Aravinda's advice -- which came at the point that I was about to uninstall Office and request a refund -- halted the freezes. The culprit was an outdated add-on from EndNote that got loaded at install time from a legacy Word setting apparenty. Once that add-on was removed, Word stopped freezing. More testing will be needed, of course. I just appied Aravinda's fix a few minutes ago. But I'll return here if there are any further issues.
